Printable sign-up sheet

The paper sign-up sheet on a clipboard has lasted because it works. Everyone can see what's taken, writing a name takes two seconds, and it sits right where people walk past. Its weaknesses are just as familiar. It only reaches people in the room, nobody gets a reminder, and by Friday someone has written over someone else.

Dibs is built around that clipboard. You make the sheet online, people sign up from a link, and you print it whenever you want a copy that looks like the real thing.

Why print an online sheet

  • A door or noticeboard copy for people who walk past, with a QR code to sign up
  • A clipboard at check-in on the day, to tick people off
  • A copy on the fridge for a family schedule or carpool
  • A record for the teacher, coach or office who prefer paper

Print it again whenever you want the latest names. The online sheet is the one that stays current.

Mixing paper and online

Some people will always write on the paper. That is fine. When you get the clipboard back, add those names from your organizer view. They count toward the slot limits, so the online sheet does not offer a spot that is already taken on paper. If the paper copy is going to be out for a while, print it with a note: "Please also sign up at the link, or tell Sam."

A blank sheet, or a real one

Plenty of people search for a blank printable sign-up sheet and fill in the slots by hand. If you know the slots, type them in first. A sheet that already says "Desserts x3" or "Sat 9-11am: Setup x4" gets better sign-ups than a page of empty lines, because people can see where they fit.

If you do want a simple numbered list, the starter text above makes twenty lines. Change the number, rename it, or replace it with real slots.

What prints

  • The sheet title, date and description at the top
  • Each slot with its time and limit, and lines for names
  • Names already signed up, written on the lines
  • "Full" on slots that are full
  • A QR code and the short link at the bottom

It fits standard letter or A4 in portrait, with lines big enough for real handwriting.

When paper is enough

If everyone is in one room and the event is tomorrow, a paper sheet and a pen are hard to beat. Online starts to matter when people are not all in the same place, when you want reminders sent, or when people need to change their mind without crossing someone out.

A ready list

Paste the starter text into Dibs, or type your own slots. Share the link, print the clipboard copy, and stick it wherever people pass. Online sign-ups need no account and the page has no ads.

Printable sign-up sheet: questions

Can I print a sign-up sheet and also take sign-ups online?

Yes. People sign up from the link, and the print view shows the current names on lines, like a clipboard sheet. Print it again whenever you want the latest copy.

How do I add sign-ups from the paper copy?

Add them by hand from your organizer view. They count toward the slot limits, so the online sheet stays accurate.

Can I put a QR code on the printed sheet?

Yes. The print view includes a QR code for the sheet, so people walking past can scan it and sign up on their phone.

What size does it print?

It is laid out for standard letter and A4 paper, in portrait, with lines big enough to write on.
