Free sign-up sheet apps compared (2026)

Most free sign-up sheet tools in October 2026 show no ads and need no account from the people signing up. SignUpGenius, SignUp.com and Doodle are the exceptions on ads. The real differences are free-plan caps and waitlists: SignupKit, MySignMeUp, Lome, TimeToSignUp and Doodle cap sheets or sign-ups, Grasshopper hides responses past 30, and only a few include an automatic waitlist for free.

We make Dibs, so treat this page as one vendor's notes, and check the sources at the bottom. Every fact below comes from each tool's own pricing, help or terms pages as we read them on October 28, 2026. Tools are in alphabetical order.

"Not found" means the vendor's pricing, help and feature pages don't mention it, not that it is impossible. "Account to sign up" is about the people signing up; most tools need the organizer to make an account (see each tool below). Prices are in US dollars and change often.

How we checked

On October 28, 2026 we read each tool's pricing, help, terms and feature pages, and the page source where a vendor's text was unclear. Where a page blocked automated reading, we used the browser. We did not sign up for paid plans or open other people's live sheets, so "no ads" means the vendor says so and we found no ad network in its pages.

We left out tools that don't say who runs them, and tools with no free plan, such as VolunteerLocal. SignUpReady is out for the first reason. SignUpSheet.page and Dibs both launched in October 2026, so neither has a long track record yet.

Pick this if

Cheddar Up

Pick it if the sign-up is mostly about collecting money: class fees, uniforms, fundraisers. It has no ads, and payments are built in, at 3.95% + $0.95 per card payment on the free plan. The free plan allows one form or sign-up per page, and waitlists are on the Team plan. Beats Dibs on: payments and online stores.

Dibs

Pick it if you want everything free with no ads: unlimited sheets and sign-ups, waitlists that move people up, reminders, custom questions, swaps, check-in on the day and a roster of who hasn't signed up. The organizer doesn't need an account either. Plus, at $5 a month or $39 a year, raises the roster from 50 to 500 people and the email allowance. Dibs has no payments, no text messages and no app.

Doodle

Pick it if you're picking a meeting time first, and need a sign-up sheet second. The free plan includes 3 sign-up sheets with ads; Pro, at $15 a month or $132 a year, removes ads and adds reminders. Beats Dibs on: date polls and calendar booking pages.

Google Forms

Pick it for questions, not slots: surveys, RSVPs with no cap and anything that belongs in Google Sheets. It has no limit per option, so it can't stop two people taking the last slot. Beats Dibs on: branching, quizzes and Google Workspace. Full comparison.

Grasshopper Signup

Pick it if you want the most features without ads: payments through Stripe, Google Calendar and Sheets sync, kiosk mode and webhooks, and text reminders on its Boost plan. Its free plan has unlimited forms, but once a form passes 30 sign-ups you need Premium, $5 a month or $50 a year, to see and download the responses. Beats Dibs on: payments, calendar sync and text messages.

Lome

Pick it if a group meets again and again and wants a shared board and calendar, with text reminders on paid plans. The free plan is one sign-up form, and paid plans start at $15 a month. Beats Dibs on: community boards and SMS.

MySignMeUp

Pick it if you want free waitlists and duplicate protection for a small group. The free plan was cut on October 18, 2026 to 3 active sheets, 10 slots and 25 sign-ups a month, and Pro is $9 a month. Beats Dibs on: paid slots and invoicing for school years.

Perfect Potluck

Pick it for a potluck, if you don't mind a dated look. It is free with no accounts, has a portion calculator and sends a reminder two days before. People find the sheet by the organizer's last name and a password, rather than a link alone. Beats Dibs on: potluck-only extras like the portion calculator and recipes.

SignUp.com

Pick it for a volunteer program that needs text reminders, check-in records or hours tracking, and doesn't mind paying for them. Free sign-ups show ads unless you buy the $9.99-a-month ad-free add-on. Beats Dibs on: text messages, hours tracking and unlimited free emails. Full comparison.

SignUpGenius

Pick it if you need payments, tickets, fundraising or text messages in one place, or your school already uses it. The free plan shows ads to people signing up, and waitlists start at Gold. Beats Dibs on: money, texts, apps and organization-wide admin. Full comparison.

SignUpSheet.page

Pick it if you need a sheet in another language. It is free with no accounts, includes an automatic waitlist, and runs in 15 languages. Free sheets and participant emails carry its branding; Pro is $6 a month. Beats Dibs on: languages, group cards and a gift-exchange draw.

SignupKit

Pick it for paid slots without a platform fee. On the free plan it takes $0 per paid slot, through Stripe, in beta and US only. Free is 5 sheets of up to 50 sign-ups and 50 reminder emails a month. Pro is $10 a month. Beats Dibs on: paid slots and e-signature waivers (paid).

TimeToSignUp

Pick it for a long-running, plain tool on a small budget. It has run with no ads since 2009, and $19 a year buys the nonprofit plan. Free is one sheet at a time with no reminders. Beats Dibs on: folders and multiple admins for many sheets.

VolunteerSignup.org

Pick it for a volunteer group that wants hours tracked. It is free with no ads and no limits, for non-commercial volunteer work, and it tracks volunteer credits and hours across sheets. Organizers need an account. Beats Dibs on: volunteer hours, for free.

Whocan

Pick it if you need a date poll, a potluck and a class booking in one free tool, with no accounts at all. It is run by a small Swiss company and works in six languages. We found confirmation emails but no reminders. Beats Dibs on: scheduling polls and languages.
